2007 Titusville Sailing Club Spring Regatta Race Result
Jun 3, 2007 (Titusville, FL)
The skippers of "Adios," Hamilton Sirls and "Island Time," Guy Mariande and "Whitehawk," Randy Pawlouski outlasted packs of other non-spinnaker, cruiser and Catalina-22 sailboats in the Titusville Sailing Club's Spring Regatta.  Starts for the weekend race were held on the Indian River adjacent to the Titusville Sailing Club on both days.

It was blowing 20 knots across the Indian River the whole weekend.  A great challenge from vessels of the New Smyrna Yacht Club and the Halifax River Yacht Club were logged.  Accumulated finishing times over two days determined the winners of the racing.   Runners up in all classes included (in no particular order), the vessels of:  Rhapsody, Breaking Wind and Incommunicado, Frankly Speaking and Mercury Rising and Tomcat.

The festivities were topped off with a traditional cookout of hamburgers, hot dogs and Titusville Sailing Club member provided covered dishes for a modest price of $6 for both days!  Meals were well coordinated by Sailing Club members Bill Howard, Norma Thomas and Dorris Ruffe.  Raffle Tickets were sold to offset the cost of the Regatta and highlighted local provayers:  The Brevard County Iceplex, Kelsey's Pizza, Pumpernickle's Restaurant and Dixie Crossroads Restaurant.

Some of the finest sailing conditions in Central Florida is experienced all-year-around in the Indian River of North and South Titusville (where the city is flanked by public boat ramps).  The Titusville Marina hosted a half-a-dozen visiting vessels from neighboring yacht clubs up and down the Indian River.  Few Municipal Marina's could provide safe, secure and environmentally friendly accommodations that the Titusville Marina does.  The Titusville Sailing Club will host a half-dozen more Fall Series Races this year.  Local Sailors should also note the opportunity to cruise on New Year's Day in the Fun Race:  "No spinnikar, no handicaps, no worries."  The club promotes sailing through beginner and intermediate classes, and racing Regatta's.
